Commentary on poem afterward The FloodThe poem After The Flood has a slow and stiff tempo. The poetcreated it by not mentioning too many events at once, but slowly, andgives cartridge clip for the observer to resound I remembered... and giveshis own opinion on the events It had not been a bad rise Thesegive the readers a better accord and a clearer picture on whatis happening. As we read through the poem, we meet an symbol of theobserver, standing at the ruins of the park, discover carefully whatis going on around and describing them in words what he sees andcomparing them with the past educate which was before the flood.The pace of the observer in observing is somewhat interrelated with thetempo of the poem, so the reader is like following the observer and comprehend to him.After reading the poem, a calm and tense less image of the observer iscreated in our mind. Phrases like The morning it was over, figuresthat the observer is heart calm and believes that everythin g is overand there is nothing more to worry about. I walked shows theobserver is worried of nothing and walked calmly to the Jersey side.It had not been a bad rise also shows that the observer doesntexaggerate on what he sees, but judges it fairly according to his ownthoughts. I felt I must surely so familiar, this fall apart of tell usthat the poet is so unworried and have time to recall the past andbeing a little nostalgic. Line 17-24 shows us the observer comparingthe condition of the river presently and during the flood, he is calmand carefully observing the situation and even the sounds around him.The river in this poem is described through comparisons or figures ofspeech. The observer thinks the river is amazing as its intensity hasdecreased considerably. The water system is described as swollen thisgives us the image of the water current along the river in a roughmotion and is forming little waves. It is distract and dirty. Line19-20 is a simile where the flowing river is c ompared to a beast thatis sneak around. It is referred as beast as it had created amassive destruction to the dress and has ruined everybodys mood. Now,it is as if the beast is tired and retreats slowly, so it is utter tobe sneaking around. Another role of the river in this poem is to showcontinuity of life.
